I have been traveling 4 to 6 times a year around the world since 2009, most often outside Europe when I can. People often say that I am “lucky.” I can only say “no” because I dared to make a life choice and took initiative to succeed. I will share my perspective in this article.
Daring a life choice and taking initiative to succeed
Most people think that “traveling” is out of reach.
Lack of time, lack of money, lack of motivation, or lack of a travel companion can immediately be obstacles to your travel project.
In fact, in most of these cases, people stay in France and continue to dream their life instead of acting.
I am a “normal” person except that I have the qualities of a traveler. Why and how did I get here?
I dared to make a life choice and undertook certain projects that gave me enough self-confidence to succeed.
This project was done in several stages:
- Being comfortable in foreign languages really gives an extra boost of confidence when traveling, it allows you to meet more people and also to create more travel opportunities.
- Preparing yourself at least a little when traveling is never too much for a short or long trip. The more informed you are, the more successful your trip will be. If you have information about the country, you will be less likely to be scammed, be more proactive, and have more confidence. It is better to know the terrain before trying it.
- Creating a blog or a travel journal allows you to track your progress and keep a record. If nothing is written down, everything is quickly forgotten. Each memory and each writing also allow you to recall all the good times you had and avoid making the same mistakes. It can also spark the curiosity of other travelers.
Everyone can have their own steps; these are mine.
It is not necessarily a life project; you can have a meeting that changes you or you can read travel blogs to put yourself in the shoes of travelers, for example.
What will be the first step of your change?
Travel is within everyone’s reach.
I truly believe that travel is within everyone’s reach.
I explain in this article: “from dream to reality” that no matter where you come from or what you have done before, you can travel as much as you want if you desire it. You just have to take the time and make sacrifices.
This year, I managed to travel 80 days abroad and I have had a permanent contract job for 2 years as an executive!! It’s huge, but how?
- I have two jobs where I earn money, so two salaries.
- I take unpaid leave to travel more.
- I sacrifice my evenings to work to have “more vacation” and make “more trips,” and at the same time, I also made professional sacrifices.
What are you willing to do to travel?
You have to DARE to SUCCEED.
I am often asked “how do you have so much time off?” I simply dared to ask for that much and I have had no refusals so far.
I went to the other side of the world alone to enrich myself internally and I have rather succeeded according to what people say.
Not everything you do will be a success; we learn from failures and come out stronger. We all fell hundreds of times before learning to walk!!
It is also said that lottery winners are those who tried their luck, so why not you?
Making the right choices
There are no miracle solutions nor really right choices; it depends on what you want to do. When I was traveling in Australia or Asia, I had the choice to go anywhere, but I knew that only my personal ability would make that choice a success.
It only takes meeting one person and the wheel can turn in your favor. So you have to create this luck.
The unfortunate and unlucky are those who never created this luck for themselves.
Still, you have to be able to recognize this luck and that is another story 😀 because you have to trigger it.
And you, do you think that only lucky people travel?
