The year 2013 was a year full of travel: see my 2013 retrospective. I think that each year is better than the previous one and I am sure that compared to my plans, the year 2014 will hold many surprises for me in terms of travel and encounters. It started well since I have already spent a week in Burma and a week in Thailand.
In this article, I will talk to you about my travel plans for 2014.
My travel schedule before the world tour.
This year is for me the year where everything is possible since it is the year when I will leave for a world tour in September, but until then, I have a few trips planned.
Travel is my passion, which is why I don’t wait to be on a world tour to go to the other side of the earth or give myself trivial reasons to stop traveling (money, time, traveling alone, etc.). The more you travel, the more experiences you have and the better the trip goes. You don’t do the same world tour when you are discovering the world or when you travel regularly.
Peru and Bolivia at the end of May (3 weeks):
My trip to Peru and Bolivia will last 22 days. This trip will allow me to get an overview of the Hispanic part of South America. I remind you that I went to Brazil in November, which was actually my first step in South America.
This stay, taking place at the end of May, will be divided as follows: two weeks in Peru and one week in Bolivia.
I will arrive directly in Cuzco from Paris after a long flight and two short flights, about 22 hours of travel. I arrive directly in Cuzco because my days are numbered and my timing is tight. I would not have done it this way if I were leaving for the long term.
My goal in Peru is to do as many days of hiking as possible. In Bolivia, I want to enjoy the landscapes, the altitude, and the cost of living.
The summary of my itinerary will be as follows:
- We will do the jungle trek which consists of one day of mountain biking and the rest walking on alternative routes to the Inca trail. The goal is to reach Machu Picchu from Cuzco in 4 days, stopping in towns such as Santa Maria, Santa Teresa, and Aqua Calientes.
- Then, we will head by bus to Arequipa, located in the southwest of Peru, where we will do 3 days of trekking in the Colca Canyon. It is one of the deepest canyons in the world. It is a place with wild and mountainous nature.
- Afterwards, we will head to Lake Titicaca in Puno by bus.
- From Puno, we will go to Copacabana (on the Bolivian side) and then directly to Isla del Sol where we will rest for a few days in the sun.
- After this rest at Isla del Sol, my friend and I will separate in La Paz, then I will go to the south of Bolivia to the Salar de Uyuni for four days, while he will go to Easter Island in Chile. I will see depending on the timing if I have time to do the Death Road by mountain bike.
We will use local and national buses for this stay, and to spend as little money as possible, we will use a bus price comparison tool to get the best prices in Peru: https://busportal.pe/fr/accueil
The stay in Peru and Bolivia is the longest trip I will take before September.
Other trips in mind:
I will probably have other trips before leaving for my world tour, but I don’t have anything concrete yet. I am thinking especially of Jordan or Mexico for an 11-day stay, cities in Eastern Europe: Budapest, Krakow, or Bucharest for a long weekend. I will wait a few more months because I just planned my trip to Peru and I came back from Thailand 3 weeks ago.
Otherwise, I will spend 5 days at the end of March skiing in La Plagne with my family, and it will be the first time I ski. I can’t wait!!
2014, a trekking adventure around the world.
I will start my second world trip in September. If you want to know what motivates me: follow this article.
Everyone has their travel goals. For me, 2014 will be the year of hiking and trekking, as I plan to do some beautiful treks around the world.
- To start my world trip, I plan to arrive at the Cape in South Africa (Cape Town) and go up the coast to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe). I will do hikes offered along the coasts (planned time: 1 month).
- Then I will leave for Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro, which is the highest peak in Africa, and depending on the budget, I will go on a safari, but that is optional (planned time: two to four weeks).
- Next, I will head to Kathmandu in Nepal for three weeks of hiking to do the Annapurna Circuit (planned time: 1 month).
- At the end of the year and for my 30th birthday, I will rest on the beach in Southeast Asia before setting off again in 2015 where treks in New Zealand will await me :D.
There you go! Where is the place you want to hike in the world?
