World Tour: Plan and Objective

18 September 2014

I have currently visited 32 countries and have been to some countries several times (three times to the USA, twice to China and Indonesia, etc.). In this article, I will talk to you about my round-the-world travel destinations.

The plan for my round-the-world trip.

At the moment, I have left on my round-the-world trip and I am at my first destination, which is Turkey. My round-the-world plan is already defined, although it will vary:

  • Turkey until early October.

  • South Africa during the month of October from Cape Town to Johannesburg.
  • Then I will travel through northern South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Botswana for two weeks.
  • Mid-November, I will stay a few days in Dubai.
  • Depending on my mood, I will go either to Nepal or Jordan.
  • Then I will spend New Year’s in Thailand.
  • I will then head to New Zealand for a month.
  • From New Zealand, I will go to South America by going to Chile.
  • I will then travel up to the Atacama Desert in northern Chile in March and then continue up to Bolivia.
  • On this occasion, I will do the Salar de Uyuni, which I missed in July this year, and I will probably stay a few weeks in Sucre for Spanish classes.
  • At the end of April, I will leave for Canada in the Vancouver area and Washington state to see my family.
  • I will be in the United States and Canada until the end of August or late July. I plan to do volunteer work in exchange for accommodation and food, then I will travel along the North American west coast.
  • After North America, I will go to Mexico and travel down through Latin America until 2016, then depending on my motivation, I will either return to Asia or not.

This is roughly the plan for my round-the-world trip.

Objectives in each country

For each of the countries I mentioned, I have a specific goal that brought me there.

  • Turkey: take a hot air balloon ride.
  • South Africa: trekking in the coastal national parks and the Big 5 (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros).
  • Zimbabwe: Victoria Falls.
  • Dubai: see friends and their son.
  • Nepal: hike to the Everest Base Camp or Petra for Jordan.
  • Thailand, spend New Year’s and my 30th birthday.
  • New Zealand: do a road trip and visit its national parks.
  • Chile: see friends and the Atacama Desert.
  • Bolivia: Salar de Uyuni and improve my Spanish.
  • USA and Canada: Spend the summer there. See and travel with my friends who are on working holiday visas in Canada.
  • Mexico: the palenques, the Mayan temples.

This is my plan and my objectives for this first year of my round-the-world trip.

And you? What would be your goals for your next trip?
