Everyone has their own places they want to go and things to do before they die! In this article, I will present to you the places I absolutely want to visit.

When you are a traveler, you have a “to do list,” that is to say, “a list of things you absolutely want to do”! Some time ago, I was reading two books on time management: “The 4-Hour Workweek” by Tim Ferriss and “Getting Things Done” by David Allen, which are, in my opinion, 2 must-read reference books.

I started thinking, “If I had enough time to do what I wanted and succeed in life,” where would I go?

List of the best things to do before you die by continent

The best places to visit in Asia

To do:

• Go to Tibet to see this unique place.
• Go to the summit of Everest and hike near the Himalayas in Nepal, I will settle for hiking because the summit seems insurmountable for a beginner!
• Go to India to see the Taj Mahal.
• Visit Vietnam, go see Halong Bay and the caves,
• See the sunrise over the volcanoes of Indonesia, specifically Bromo on the island of Java, I should have done it in 2011 when I went to Indonesia but I didn’t have the courage, too bad, and there was also the eruption!
• Go to Laos and see its wonderful landscapes.
• Go to Mongolia, see the steppes, the Gobi desert and take the Trans-Mongolian Railway.
• Take the Trans-Siberian Railway, see Lake Baikal, etc.

Already done in Asia:

• Tour Thailand and see its magnificent beaches (2011).
• Visit the city of Seoul, I will definitely return in the coming years (2011).
• Go to Bali and see this paradise island (2011, 2013).
• Travel to Singapore, the city where everything is clean and where you feel safe (2011).
• Visit Malaysia (2011).
• Walk along the Great Wall of China (2012 – 2013).
• See Japan: Tokyo, Kyoto and Japanese culture (2012).
• Play at the casino in Macau (2013).
• Go to Burma, see the land of temples (2013-2014).
• Go to Hong Kong, I should have gone in 2010 but due to a credit card problem, I only had a 4-hour stopover instead of the initially planned 4 days (2013).
• Go to the Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia (2015).
• Go diving in the Philippines and Indonesia to see manta rays, dugongs, whale sharks, etc. (2015).
• Go to Taiwan and see my friends from Australia again (2015).

The best places to visit in the Middle East:

• Go to Jordan

• See the city of Dubai, I have landed there several times but I would like to visit and see the city (2013).
• Go to Istanbul in Turkey, ride the hot air balloons in Göreme in Cappadocia (2014).

• See a football match in Barcelona,
• Sail the Greek islands,

• See the Knights of the Zodiac, well the Colosseum and the Vatican in Rome (2009),
• Celebrate New Year’s and smoke weed in Amsterdam (2012),
• See the castle of Empress Sisi in Vienna (2012),
• Enjoy the Croatian islands (2008).
• See the Northern Lights in Iceland (2014)
• Go to Krakow, see historical sites and taste vodka (2014),
• Go to Budapest to the hot springs (2014),
• Learn Spanish in Spain (2014),
• Visit the island of Malta (2014),
• Go to Prague (2014).

• Go see Niagara Falls,
• Go to New York and Times Square,
• Sunbathe on Miami Beach,
• Go to Montreal to see my cousins,
• Do dog sledding in Alaska. I don’t know if I’ll like it!
• Go see Easter Island in Chile.
• Go to the Amazon rainforest, and get eaten by piranhas! Just kidding 😀
• Go to the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador.

• Visit San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge (2009)

• See my family in the USA, in Washington state and Portland (Oregon) (2004 and 2009)
• Eat a hot dog and visit Chicago (2009)
• Go see the largest Chinese community in Vancouver, Canada (2004 and 2009).
• Feast in Rio de Janeiro and see the Christ statue overlooking the city (2013).
• Hike in the Grand Canyon (2015),
• Go to Hawaii, see the volcanoes and dream beaches (2015),
• Get married in Las Vegas, and play at the Casino, I’m not going to get married there but I really want to go (2015). I did not get married!

Strangely, Africa attracts me less but I have never been there yet so here we go!

• Go to Réunion Island or Mauritius for hiking.
• See Zanzibar Island in Tanzania.
• Go to Egypt to see the Sphinx.

• Go to South Africa, Cape Town, Table Mountain, etc. (2014)
• See Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe (2014)

This reflection on places to visit came to me from a book “What You Need to Know Before You Die” by John Izzo. In this book, the author interviews more than 200 people over sixty and asks them the question “what would you have liked to do before”!
