It is said that unimaginable things often happen during travels, is it luck? I think not.

I recently met again at a dinner a friend from South Korea, we talked about various topics including one about luck during travels. In this article, I will give you my opinion on the matter. By the way, I met this friend in a bar the evening before New Year’s Eve three years ago.

Pure chance, not at all. I will explain below.

Luck factor in travel: Lucky encounters and those that are not.

There is luck and luck, you have to make the distinction between the two.

I mentioned in a previous article that I met a college friend at a bookstore in a small Australian town! That is luck!

However, meeting new people who come to talk to us or others with whom we initiate a conversation is luck due to a skill that we activate unconsciously.

What you need to know is that when you travel, travelers talk to people they feel comfortable with or people who seem attractive, open and/or with open body language, etc.

Example: Being French, if you talk to another French person, you are more likely to gain their trust than an English person who will understand only half of your words!

Everything is decided in the first few minutes, a contact, a gesture, words, you know if you will get along well with these people.

People often tell me “you were lucky to meet good people during your travels,” but I say that’s not luck! Good people attract good people and bad people attract problems!

You just need to surround yourself with the right people to increase your luck factor. &nbsp ;

In that case, how do you attract these good people?

It’s a difficult question to answer because you can’t sense it immediately even if you feel you’re on the same wavelength. However, being aware of it is another matter, as it will increase your luck factor.

Let’s take an example: when I was in Thailand, many people took me for a Thai, which is quite conceivable since I have an Asian-looking face. As a result, many people did not dare to talk to me because they preferred to speak to other foreigners who looked more like them. However, by initiating the conversation, they saw that I was Western; knowing that I speak English fluently and manage quite well in German, I was able to tip the balance and make incredible encounters thanks to that!

The conclusion of the article, which is more philosophical than anything else, is that increasing your skills, whether in languages or in dialogue with people, will increase your chances of a memorable and unforgettable good trip. It’s a mindset to have!
