The 10 Travel Tips !
Essential to Remember
10 essential tips for good travel: anticipate visa, take insurance, bring a basic pharmacy kit, copy your documents, notify your bank, withdraw some cash, unplug your phone, leave early for the airport, keep a backpack in the cabin, smile upon arrival.
Tip #1: Define your desires and needs.
The first thing to do is to define the type of vacation you need. If the period leading up to this moment of relaxation has been exhausting, you will probably want to rest, to recharge, and not to roam the desert on a safari… Cultural vacation? Relaxing vacation? Wellness vacation? Sea? Mountain? Thalasso? A real choice of destination is offered to you…
; Tip #2: Wait for the good deal!   ;Once your goals are defined, there is no point rushing to the nearest travel agency. Indeed, good deals are often at home, and especially on the internet. The first rule to follow if you don’t want to deprive yourself for the rest of the year is to set your vacation dates according to the stay found, and not the other way around. This will sometimes force you to leave during the week or even to postpone by a few days what you would have wished, but the price difference is very significant!
Likewise, it can be very interesting not to set aside “all-inclusive” stays (flight, hotel, visits)… Plane tickets, for example, are not always as expensive as one might think… Get informed!   ; Tip #3: Get information about your destination.   ;Once the destination is chosen, it is important to know it. Its currency, its customs, its culture, the location of nice places, the distance from the airport… This will really be useful to you on site.
Did you know?
According to Booking Travel Trends 2024, 78% of travelers leave without having read a single article about their destination. Yet, 20 minutes of preparation is enough to avoid 90% of common travel problems.
Why not take advantage of a few days as a couple, or with friends? Without the children… Rest assured, this does not imply abandoning them but rather allowing everyone to have a different kind of vacation… Camps, friends, family members… can be very enriching places for your little blond heads… As for you, it will finally grant you a few days of respite… Again, to avoid being overwhelmed by anxiety, don’t hesitate to set a time when you can calmly call them…
; Tip #5 : Don’t hesitate to change your habits!   ;A multitude of vacation themes are now offered. Were you used to camping in Carnac or the Mediterranean cruise? Why not opt for a stay abroad? Or even try the mountains in summer? It won’t necessarily be more expensive, but it could be quite enjoyable!
My experience
My dumbest mistake: forgetting to notify my bank of my trip when leaving for Argentina. Card blocked at the 2nd withdrawal, 3 hours on the phone to unblock it. Since then, I use the Revolut app without any issues.
3 weeks in summer? 1 week in February? Why not change that too and take advantage of less busy times of the year such as May, June, September… Long weekends can be just as beneficial and sometimes help you keep up the pace.
; Tip #6 : Organize your stay.   ;If your objectives and goals for the stay are clearly defined, don’t wait to be there to organize your days. Especially if you want to enrich yourself culturally and visit all the museums in the city, locate them beforehand so you don’t waste time on site. Unfortunately, vacations are often too short…

The worst enemy of your vacation will be your stress. It is therefore important to get yourself up to date at work, at home… in short in your daily life so as not to foolishly miss out on the relaxation that your upcoming change of scenery will bring…
The classic trap to avoid
Never leave without having informed your bank of your dates and destinations. Most bank cards are blocked after the 1st or 2nd withdrawal abroad without prior notification.
The rhythm resulting from the repetition of daily life often generates anxiety, stress. During the vacation period, real well-being can be provided by a simple change of habit… (shifted meal and bedtime hours… change in eating habits…). It’s not so bad if your little one’s bath is not taken at 6 p.m. or if your eldest didn’t do their reading page today…
; Tip #10 : Fully enjoy your vacation… !   ;Force yourself to turn off your phone and only turn it on during a time slot you have defined in advance. Do not take work. … One word: ENJOY !
