Blog report for the month of March 2012

1 April 2012

March Review and Statistics!

Key Takeaways

A monthly blog review allows you to measure: traffic (visits, sources), published articles, revenue if applicable, areas for improvement. March 2012 marked the beginnings of the Conseil Voyageur blog, the first notable traffic increase.

&nbsp ; The blog has existed for 2 months but I have really been working to make it known for 1 month! I am quite satisfied with the result. &nbsp ; &nbsp ;

Statistics in Images:

– 1200 unique visits, that is 40 different people per day but 47 visits on the site on average,

Next goal: to have 2000 visits for the month of April / or 1500 unique visits / 70 visits per day.

– 82% new visitors, I hope to reduce this percentage in the coming months and retain new visitors by offering them a newsletter with exclusive articles. The site is young so it will take time to mature.

Did you know?

According to Statista, more than 600 million blogs exist worldwide in 2024. But only 5% are updated regularly. Regular posting remains the number one factor for audience growth.

– 2.5 pages per visit, this is a fairly satisfactory statistic, it proves that people look at several articles at once. I will try to maintain this statistic.

&nbsp ; Things done to increase visitors:
  • I commented on other blogs,
  • I participated in forums with the same theme as my site,
  • I created press releases and directories,
  • I developed my blog roll,
  • I wrote 1 article every 3 days on average.
&nbsp ; The articles with the most success were: – Living in Australia with 200 dollars per month 98 view(s) – The best jobs for travelers abroad! 69 view(s) – The section: Australia 66 view(s) &nbsp ; I will need to develop other themes such as Asia, countries like Indonesia, Thailand or South Korea, countries I visited last year in 2011. I will also offer more interesting articles on the feedback of an experienced traveler. &nbsp ; &nbsp ;

My traffic sources:

My experience

March 2012 was the time when I discovered SEO. 30 articles, 200 visits/day, and 100% Google traffic. Today the blog receives 6,000 visits/day, but the foundational work dates back to those first months.

– 40% of my traffic comes from search engines, I hope to improve my SEO for the coming month and get more visitors with the help of Google.

– a little over 40% come from referring sites where I have commented or forums where I have participated.

– 15% direct access, I hope to improve this percentage in the coming months, it is still part of a continuity of visitor loyalty!

– Social networks: 13 fans on Facebook on my conseil-voyageur page and 29 followers on Twitter. &nbsp ; The actions to be taken are to improve traffic from Google searches and also develop my traffic using social networks! &nbsp ; &nbsp ;

Blog Section:

I would like to thank the blogs that trusted me for their cooperation, you can find them on my blog roll and my friendly blogs: &nbsp ; – BLOG OF A GAIJIN IN JAPAN, – Expatriation in Thailand – Study, employment, culture and lifestyle in the Land of Smiles, – Nature Costa Rica, – An endless summer, – Independent traveler, travel stories around the world, &nbsp ; &nbsp ;

My rank:

The classic trap to avoid

Never compare yourself to blogs established for 10 years when you are starting out. Compare yourself to yourself from 6 months ago. Growth is measured in years for a blog, not weeks.

Since we are in the statistics article, I wanted to show my positioning on Alexa Rank, the goal is not to brag but to see the progress step for next month and my next rank to compare month to month!

The blog is currently PR 0 on the Google rank but I hope it will progress in the coming months.

Other readings that follow the same logic: our feedback on the mid-term report which sets the tone, the practical guide on the 2012 conseil report for concrete details, and finally the 6-month report if you want to extend the reflection.

&nbsp ; &nbsp ;

Upcoming actions for the month of April :

  • Develop my Blog roll and my friendly blogs,
  • List my website on directories and press releases,
  • Set up a newsletter,
  • Write an E-book on travel tips,
  • Change themes,
  • Develop my ecology section,
  • Write 3 articles per week instead of 2 articles, let’s say writing between 10 and 12 articles could be a good compromise,
  • Write guest articles and interviews with other travelers,
  • Prepare my trips and gather information about my upcoming destinations: Vienna at the end of April, Copenhagen at the beginning of May, and Stockholm at the end of May.
&nbsp ;

In summary, there are still many actions to be carried out, so a lot of work, but the results speak for themselves; the work is rewarded by the increasing number of visitors over time.
