Return gift from travel: Vacation souvenirs
For long-term travelers, it is very difficult to bring back a travel souvenir because as you go through countries, the backpack gets heavier and heavier unless you buy light things!
Having visited dozens of countries and been to many tourist spots, I will give you an overview of souvenirs that can be offered! Holidays are coming, you will need to give vacation souvenirs upon returning. I was even asked for several things for my trip to Japan
Classic return gift from travel:
- The T-shirt, who has never dreamed of a T-shirt, “I love New York” or a T-shirt in the colors of the country visited! It is one of the most offered gifts and the best-selling! I actually have several T-shirts from Australia or Thailand. Satisfaction guaranteed if you find the right size.
- The keychain, a gift that you can always carry with you, featuring one of the country’s symbols, for example a Paris keychain with the Eiffel Tower or New York with its Statue of Liberty emblem.
- The mug, another of the most classic gifts, is one of the most useful because you have your coffee or breakfast with it, it is an everyday object!
- The stuffed animal, for example a kangaroo for Australia.
- Food or drink from the country, for example, Swiss chocolate, Dutch gouda, dates from North Africa, French foie gras, or alcohol (wine, vodka, etc.).
- The postcard, I won’t go into detail.
- Knick-knacks, ashtrays, bowls, dishes with images representing the city. Gifts less and less offered but still popular.
- I don’t like them much but must mention pencils and pens.
- The snow globe with Christmas or glitter effect.
Less classic return gifts from travel:
- The bag with the country’s or city’s emblem, you often see people with bags from New York or Barcelona, it is more a gift for girls.
- The country’s swim shorts, when I was in Australia, I saw many souvenir shops selling this kind of souvenir, which is explained by the very good climate!
- The seashell, it is not something you give as a gift but it is symbolic and reminds us of the trip.
- Bracelets or any other symbolic jewelry representing a style or the country.
- A typical garment, cashmere scarf from India, a jacket from Canada, linen pants from Africa, etc.
- The bath towel, for example I have a bath towel from Australia, very pretty! I often bring it to youth hostels and people think I am Australian 😀
- The puzzle, I bought a Mont Saint Michel puzzle 10 years ago that I still haven’t done.
- Spices or specialties from the country.
- The thimble
The unlikely ones:
- An adapter for a future trip.
- The country’s money.
