My Trip to Germany at Christmas
I occasionally talk to you about Germany and the last article I mentioned was about my last trip to Berlin last year during the Christmas period! This year, I’m doing it again, but I’m going to do it a little differently and that’s what I explain in this article!
Germany at Christmas: 2 weeks in Berlin in 2012
So, I’m going for 2 weeks to Berlin alone, which really isn’t different from usual, but this time, I wanted to do something different! I’m going there to improve my German.
I speak fairly basic German with many mistakes, but I can hold long conversations with people, though once it gets deeper, it’s a bit difficult to understand everything. By going for these 2 weeks, I will try to fix that and make as few mistakes as possible in the future.
I don’t aim to greatly improve my German but just to speak with fewer mistakes, because I learned a lot with my German friends in Australia so I have much more oral practice than written! It will be an opportunity for me to combine the two! 
Germany at Christmas: The few advantages of this language stay
Knowing that there will be other people from all over Europe coming to take classes, it will allow me to make even more connections for possible future trips!
It will also allow me to see friends I met in China, Australia, or during my world tour. I also intend to go live in Germany as a freelancer working on my websites, so I will see if I like it and if that’s the case, I will take the plunge at the end of the year if my internet income stabilizes somewhat.
This trip really has a very specific purpose:
- Improve my German
- Have fun and party, I will be there for New Year’s and Christmas!! Last year I arrived after Christmas and left just before New Year’s :D. The Berlin nights were crazy last year!! I hope it won’t be too cold!!
- Build an even larger network of foreign friends, I really want to meet people from Eastern countries! My goal is to visit some countries in summer or spring (notably Ukraine, Romania, and Russia).
- It will also allow me to improve my social skills with locals and make new friends, it will be easier since I am in a school where I have taken a room.

I have been running a blog about Germany for some time and I would like to fill it a bit more with photos and my experience, and the ultimate goal would be to provide small free guides on several destinations in Germany! It’s really a project I want to complete and I would also like to learn a bit more about this country, which is actually why I created this blog originally, because it’s one of my passions: “Germany and the Germans” :D.
