Traveling alone: A weekend or a trip, solitary or accompanied?

In a previous article, I talked to you about how I organized a weekend abroad in Europe.

&nbsp ; This article is more of a travel reflection. &nbsp ;

Traveling alone or accompanied?

In view of an upcoming trip or a next extended weekend of several days! I plan to go on vacation or travel.

I haven’t really chosen my destination yet, where I will go. My different criteria for choosing are:

• The travel budget,
• The duration of my trip,
• The climate in the country I will go to,
• The choice also depends on whether it is a country I have already visited.
• Whether I travel alone or not,

It is on the last criterion that I will elaborate today. This criterion is one of the most important for me because in some cases, it is better to know before leaving and to prepare yourself mentally.

For example, if you go alone it is preferable to stay in a youth hostel rather than a hotel.

Having officially traveled alone for a year and a half, I am able to know the advantages and disadvantages!

Let’s make a quick comparison :

Traveling alone: The advantages of solo travel or weekend trips

• You do what you want, “freedom is priceless” !
• You meet many people if you are open and also it is often easier to integrate alone or if you are in a mixed group it works just as well.

&nbsp ;

The disadvantages of solo travel or weekend trips

• You have no one to share your trip with, even if you meet lots of people
• You depend on someone else if the other person does not have the same budget as you, does not have the same behavior, is less outgoing, you are off to a bad start even if it is your friend !
• Demotivation or loneliness comes faster even if you discover amazing things :D.
• You pay for everything all by yourself !

The advantages of traveling or weekend trips with company:

• You share the costs,
• You have memories with someone you can count on.

&nbsp ;

The disadvantages of traveling or weekend trips with company:

• You can rely too much on each other,
• You generally stay just as a pair,
• You have to listen to and agree with each other to do activities and make compromises.

Personally, if you are not used to traveling or if you do not master English, it is advised to go with someone because you get demotivated quickly.

With my travel experience and language skills, I think it is better to go alone because the other person can be a barrier to meeting other people and having unique or unforgettable experiences; however, traveling with company for a few weeks can be good !

Traveling with someone allows you to create bonds, these bonds determine whether the trips go well or badly ! I have kept in touch with people who lived in London whom I actually saw again later and others who also came to see me !

And it is very strange and nice to see people evolve !
