In this article, I will give you tips for blogging to travel, continuing to blog abroad, and also my impressions during the trip.
Blogging to travel
I went to China and Japan this summer for three and a half weeks. Of course, I did not abandon my blogs, and I maintained my writing pace by publishing an article every 4 days and on my other blog an article every 5 days. Normally, I publish 1 article every 2 to 3 days on Conseil Voyageur.
How to blog to travel ?
When traveling, you don’t want to stay on your computer, and that was my case during my stay in Asia. Tips to stay motivated and keep blogging:
- If you want to fully enjoy your trip, write some articles in advance. This will allow you to bridge the gap if you are not motivated to write.
- Write in your paper notebook the places you visited during the day and how to get there; this will help you write the article(s) on the subject more quickly.
- Know and find a quiet workspace to be able to work. When I was in China, I was in a youth hostel with a bar on the ground floor. I was not in the mood to blog.
- Try to set goals and time slots for writing an article. It’s simple, people function much better if they set goals. For example, every 3 mornings before going to the beach, I gave myself two hours to write when I was in Thailand.
- Write your article in several sessions if you have a short amount of time, even though it is recommended to write your article in one go. Doing it in several times can give you more freedom in writing.
My impression on blogging to travel
I think blogging and traveling is difficult and requires a certain discipline. It requires a certain method and being well organized. For example, if you go on a 3-day hike or two weeks of meditation in a temple, it is better to write one or more articles in advance. If your days and evenings are taken, I think you can give yourself one evening of rest from writing rather than doing other activities.
This can allow you to keep your feet on the ground and vary activities. Also, if you run a blog, it can also allow you to give news to your family and friends to follow your adventure.
What I like most about the pleasure of blogging and traveling is this feeling of sharing with people. There may be many strangers following your blogger adventures! When I read another blog, I feel like I escape to another place!
Blogging to travel professionally: the administrative side
Now, let’s look at blogging professionally and traveling. Concretely, it allows you to meet your needs while traveling. Why not be a freelancer and a professional blogger when activities become serious, so it would be time to think about creating a company if you want to travel and work at the same time.
You will have to choose a country to domicile your company. Choosing France is not an easy choice since you have to pay many taxes, so you might enjoy less. Possible solutions would be to work in a business center in Switzerland for half the year and travel the rest of the year. There is also the solution of Hong Kong which, like Switzerland, is a tax haven. Now, it is up to you to weigh the pros and cons for your company because blogging and traveling is more difficult than you think. If you want to do this activity long term, creating your company abroad in a country such as Switzerland or Hong Kong can be a solution to take it to the next level.
