Cycling in San Francisco
If you know San Francisco, you know that this city is famous for its hills and numerous climbs! If you don’t know Russian Hill yet, here is a photo!
Part of the streets of San Francisco are hilly and you need to know your way around to avoid them. In this article, I will suggest some nice bike rides to do in San Francisco.
Bike Rides in San Francisco
When it comes to cycling, I prefer to use a full-suspension mountain bike because I am a fan of skidding and I like to use the suspension system. It suits my riding style. If this is not your case, don’t worry, the rides I will recommend are mostly accessible to everyone.
Several interesting rides to do in San Francisco:

Sausalito,
This is the trendy ride, in other words, the one you must try in San Francisco. You will meet many tourists there, as it is one of the most popular. It starts at Pier 39 (the place where you will see sea lions next to Fisherman’s Wharf). You can rent your bike there and start your ride along the bay via the Marina to the Golden Gate Bridge. You will have the chance to take beautiful photos of the bridge and the bay! Descend at Sausalito then return by ferry to San Francisco! For me, it was a memorable moment and an unforgettable memory, and it is also a nice ride.

Head to Angel Island, known as “the island of angels.”
Access to the island is from San Francisco or Tiburon, a 30-minute ferry ride from San Francisco. The island is very accessible and you can rent your bike there if you want (about 10 dollars per hour or more than 30 dollars for the day). The tour of the island via the “perimeter road” takes about an hour, the tour is a good dozen kilometers. Be careful, it is a bit cold on the ferry, make sure to go when the weather is nice and bring food for the trip.
