Today, I am going to talk to you about several places where you should spend New Year’s Eve abroad. I will tell you about different New Years, well, those I know.
Spending New Year’s Eve Abroad: Ideas
First of all, I have spent two New Year’s Eves in Amsterdam, two in Australia including one in Sydney and another in Tasmania. I also spent a New Year’s Eve in Germany this year.
I will give you my impressions of these different New Year’s Eves:

New Year’s Eve in Amsterdam,
Even though I have done it twice, Amsterdam is not a place I recommend for girls for New Year’s Eve. Every New Year, the French, Dutch, Germans, etc. come to New Year’s to party hard; there are quite a few drunk people on the streets, fireworks everywhere, and lots of people breaking bottles. If you haven’t booked any parties, it will be difficult to get into a club because it’s super crowded! However, if you go to a small pub with a small group in a not very touristy neighborhood, you can have a good time, it can be very nice! Many people sleep in the metro, but be careful to wear warm clothes because it is really very cold.

New Year’s Eve in Berlin,
it is one of my favorite places; there is a very friendly atmosphere at the Brandenburg Gate square. Be careful, you need to get there quite early because it closes after a certain hour (ideally go around 8 PM)! Once there, you can buy whatever you want, drinks, food, and mulled wine! Wear warm clothes so you don’t get cold. The fireworks are not the best I have seen, but you have to do it at least once.

New Year’s Eve in Sydney,
They say that Sydney has the best fireworks in the world for New Year’s Eve. I can tell you it depends on where you watch it from! Many people watch it from the north of Sydney or from the Botanic Garden! The fireworks are really beautiful and if you want to continue your evening, you need to book a party; for example, there are boat parties or New Year’s Eve parties. However, the evening is very expensive. What is very nice is that at this time of year, it is summer in Australia, so you don’t need a place to sleep if you want to avoid paying too much! Otherwise, you really need to book your accommodation in advance because many people come to see THE fireworks; the setting is magnificent and the fireworks are worth seeing if you are well placed! It is possible to see the fireworks from the Botanic Garden, but you have to get there and arrive early in the morning.
Some other New Year’s Eves abroad to experience:
- The Chinese New Year, there are often parades or celebrations for the Chinese New Year. I spent one in Melbourne and it was very nice.
- New Year’s Eve in Asia, New Year’s Eves in Asia are very different; there is also the Thai Songkran or Khmer New Year which are worth experiencing.
