Money and Travel Budget Calculation!
There are no miracle recipes but you have to be aware of it!
During my multiple travel experiences, I have traveled or lived abroad in several different ways:
- Tourist travel,
- Backpacker travel,
- Lived in a city for several months,
- Lived in a nomadic and backpacker way,
- Travel and work at the same time,
- Travel for a weekend or long weekend of 2,3,4 days!
Each of these travel modes has a different budgeting method!
First of all, whether during my world tour, my many weekends abroad, or tourist trips of several months, I never really had a specific budget because I was aware of one essential thing! Why and how, you ask? What is this essential thing?
For me, budgeting is related to two things: Money and Comfort! Let me explain:

Travel Budget Calculation: Money
You need money to travel quite naturally, if you want to travel at least a little, having savings is somewhat non-negligible! For example, I had a budget of 5000 euros for my 1-year world tour in Australia, knowing that I wanted to work half of my time, I thought that 5000 euros was enough and it was the case because I only spent 2000 euros during my 15 months in Australia! How did I do it!? I will explain it to you below!

Comfort and money are linked! What do I mean by comfort? These are the services we give ourselves to make our travel easier! For example, instead of walking half an hour to get to work, I will take a taxi or public transport! Taking the plane when the train is cheaper and longer

Travel Budget Calculation: The relationship between comfort and money?
As I said, these two things are linked! If you want to travel for a long time, you better think about it a bit. Why is it linked? The more you prioritize comfort, the less money you will have!!! The more you prioritize money, the less your comfort will be! Do you understand?
A more concrete example:
During my trip, I lived 6 months in a tent where I paid on average 10 dollars half of the time! However, I had other accommodation choices: 100 dollars a week in a caravan or 150 euros in a youth hostel! The summary:
Expense in tent for 6 months: 10*30*6= 1800 dollars
Expense in caravan for 6 months: 4*100*6 = 2400 dollars (+ 33% compared to the tent)
Expense in youth hostel for 6 months: 4*150*6 = 3600 dollars (+100% compared to the tent)
Another more concrete example on transport:
A hop off hop on ticket (choice of tickets and destinations): 250 dollars for Brisbane and Cairns.
Gas expenses between Brisbane and Cairns for 1700km: 10 dollars per 100km so 170 dollars, if you find a lift with 2-3 people the costs are divided but we no longer had this freedom of movement hence the loss of the comfort element!
A small clarification: I am not saying that you have to deprive yourself of everything to live a trip but you just have to tell yourself that it is YOU who choose your type of trip.
The conclusion of the article on money and travel:
It depends on you! It’s up to you to choose: Rather spend 3000 euros for a month of vacation with all the comfort or 3 months of vacation at 1000 euros with less comfort.
